Roč is located in the center of northern Istria, at 348 m above sea level. The place is located at the junction of limestone, from which Ćićarija and Učka are built, and marl, which is what the valleys and ridges below these two mountains are. It was first mentioned in 1064. After the fall of Venice, Roč became part of the Illyrian provinces, and then Austria. In the first half of the twentieth century, the effects of fascism were felt in Roč until the capitulation of Italy in 1943. After the anti-fascist resistance and liberation, Roč became part of Yugoslavia, and since 1991 of the Republic of Croatia.
