Description: The livestock feed factory is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the Republika Srpska entity, within the municipality of Šamac. It is situated in the village of Obudovac, 18 km from both Šamac and Brčko. The factory is positioned on the main Belgrade–Banja Luka road and is close to the border with Croatia and the Belgrade–Zagreb highway. The nearby cities of Šamac and Brčko have loading ports on the navigable Sava River. Additionally, Šamac has a cargo railway station, serving as a transshipment point and the starting station for the Šamac–Sarajevo and Šamac–Croatia railway lines. A new highway, Belgrade–Banja Luka, is under construction, passing next to the factory and providing access to Sarajevo, linking the factory to three major economic centers. The area is well equipped with power and telecommunications infrastructure.
The livestock feed factory was built and began operations in 2005. The construction was carried out by the building company "Širbegović." The production facility has dimensions of 20x20x20 meters. The 20-meter height is divided into two floors housing the process equipment. The designed load capacity of the intermediate floor exceeds 500 tons. Next to the production building, a platform was built to support silos and a feed hopper. The factory is equipped with lightning protection and fire prevention systems. All necessary measurements and approvals have been completed, including the operating permit. The factory complies with occupational safety and environmental protection standards. The premises are well-lit with high-mounted floodlights, and a video surveillance system is in place. The building and all auxiliary structures are constructed as permanent facilities, with plans for expansion and installation of additional process equipment. The factory holds all construction and use permits with complete documentation.
The process equipment was manufactured by Mlinostroj d.d. Domžale, Slovenia, a company with a long tradition in producing equipment for feed factories and mills. The production process is largely automated and can be upgraded to a higher level of automation. The factory produces powdered feed and premixes for all types of farm animals. The production process is controlled from a control room via a PLC system. The wiring system consists of energy and signal cables, which are properly separated and housed in industrial racks and protective tubes. Feed is mixed in batches lasting 4–5 minutes, allowing for approximately 10 tons of feed to be mixed per hour. Upon issuing the command, the batch production process begins with automatic scales receiving raw materials from seven cells on the upper floor (total capacity of 170 tons). The materials are then sent to a mill with a 55kW motor, ground, and transferred to a batch preparation tank located above the mixer. When released into the mixer, the mixing process begins, with the possibility of manual ingredient addition. After mixing, the feed is discharged and conveyed via screw and belt conveyors into silos as per requirement. While the mixer is running, the next batch of raw materials is being prepared and will be automatically loaded into the mixer once it's emptied. The mixer is a counterflow horizontal type with a capacity of 800–1000 kg, depending on the raw materials used, and is prepared for liquid ingredient dosing. The production line is equipped with a cyclone that collects dust particles and returns them to the mixer in the same batch. After mixing, feed is directed to bulk silos (for direct truck loading) or to packaging silos for bagging. Additionally, the factory is equipped with an air compressor and compressed air installation.
Next to the factory building, on a concrete platform, there is a feed hopper with a capacity of around 25 tons and three galvanized silos, each with a capacity of 200 tons, totaling 600 tons based on corn bulk weight. The area around the feed hopper is covered by a 9-meter-high canopy. The system also includes a 75-ton “buffer” silo with a vibro-extractor for soybean meal, which is one of the seven cells above the scale (connected directly by a screw conveyor). There is also a later-added 20-ton silo used for loading raw materials onto trucks. On the alternative raw material intake line, a grain cleaner is installed to remove impurities, admixtures, and broken kernels. Its capacity is matched with the intake line at 12 t/h.
The factory premises are accessed from the main road and span 0.4 hectares, with potential for expansion. The perimeter is enclosed with a 2-meter-high galvanized metal fence. The entire area is paved with compacted hard material, enabling truck access. The premises contain a 150kW transformer station for power supply, which is owned by the factory, and a high-capacity private water well. Additionally, there is a 16x10m metal canopy currently used for vehicle storage, which can easily be converted into warehouse space with minimal investment.
The factory's design includes space for future capacity and business expansion. Located in the flatlands of Posavina, surrounded by fertile agricultural land focused on crop and livestock farming, the site allows for the addition of a grain dryer and related equipment, as well as the purchase of raw materials from local producers (e.g., wheat, barley, triticale in summer; corn, soybeans, and rapeseed in autumn). The space is also suitable for installing an extruder for soy and other grains and a press for producing soybean cakes and other products. Nearby, there are mill-bakery facilities whose by-products can be purchased, as well as the “Bimal” oil factory in Brčko, which produces soybean, sunflower, and rapeseed by-products.
SOW BREEDING FARM – OBUDOVAC
Adjacent to the livestock feed factory in Obudovac, on the same property, is a sow breeding farm. The combined property, including the feed factory, sow farm, and surrounding land, spans approximately 2 hectares, forming a single parcel. The entire area is fenced and legally registered under a private owner, with no ownership disputes. Most of the land has been converted from “agricultural” to “construction” land, where permanent buildings are permitted. A spatial plan has been developed for this location, allowing for the construction of industrial and farm facilities. The farm has all necessary construction and use permits with full documentation. Electricity is supplied from a private transformer on-site, and water is provided by a private well.
The sow breeding farm was built and became operational in 2007. The construction and project documentation were entrusted to the company "Širbegović." The farm is built from solid materials with insulated walls and roof structures, following the technological design. The building was designed to allow functional use even if the purpose is changed, but it fully meets the current production requirements. The total area of the farm is approximately 2,300 m², supporting production for 350–400 breeding sows. The farm also includes common-use areas for worker hygiene and rest. After construction, equipment from renowned European manufacturers (primarily from the Netherlands and Germany) was installed. Some of the equipment has been partially depreciated and may need replacement in the near future. Technologically, the farm has all necessary facilities for its function and could serve as a training base for personnel working with breeding sows. The farm includes:
Entrance room for personal belongings
Area divided into “dirty” and “clean” sections, separated by a partition and shower. The dirty section has a restroom. After showering, workers enter the clean area and change into work uniforms before crossing the disinfection barrier into the main working area
